Marco joined the AOUON/LSPC Family in August 2025, and he started as an Elder Freeman Policy Fellow in January 2026. Marco was deeply impacted by criminality he witnessed early in life, and he subsequently entered the carceral system at age 11. In October 2003, Marco was sentenced to life in federal prison for a nonviolent drug offense.

During Marco’s decades of incarceration, he worked hard to develop effective tools and strategies for combatting injustices experienced by himself and others. Marco was ultimately released from federal prison on July 16, 2025, a direct result of an Executive Clemency Petition, drafted and submitted by himself. Marco is committed to helping others adversely impacted by injustice from the carceral system.
