The event reminds children that they have a whole community of people who care about them, and also supports former prisoners in their efforts to positively impact their communities. It is dedicated to the memory of Robert Moody, a formerly incarcerated activist who helped initiate the project.
The Community Giveback puts a human face on our struggle, empowers and uplifts our community, and serves as a powerful way for formerly incarcerated people to reclaim our humanity. We are motivated by love and hope, a love and hope that our community is often denied.
The annual Community Giveback is supported 100% by donations and volunteer time, and we take donations year-round to cover expenses. (Allies and supporters can also help by sponsoring the purchase of a bicycle.)
