Uma was proudly born and raised in the East Bay. She holds a politics degree from Scripps College where she was deeply influenced by a vibrant community of organizers, radical scholars, and mentors. Throughout her academic and professional journey, Uma has focused on abolitionist politics, engaging in organizing efforts around mutual aid, political education, and campaigns in Southern California. Prior to joining LSPC, she worked as Communications Associate at the East Bay Alliance for a Sustainable Economy, where she honed her skills in writing, social media strategy, and digital organizing.
Driven by a commitment to justice, Uma’s work is rooted in the values instilled by her parents’ deep care for community and their carceral experiences. She is dedicated to amplifying the voices and narratives of those who have been incarcerated and systematically silenced. In addition to managing organizational communications for LSPC, Uma is honored to be the editor of the All of Us or None Newspaper. After work, you can find Uma baking, sewing, watching reality TV, and dancing with friends.
