A Letter to My Transgender Family

March 4, 2025 by AOUON Contributor Leave a Comment

South Central Correctional Center, MO

Dear Transgender Family,

Recently we have suffered relentless attacks from the highest ranking diplomat on Earth. Donald Trump’s judgements involving the determination of our rights are appalling. They are meant to deceive us, to demean us and to destroy us. He is exerting himself into our state of affairs continuously, vigorously and obtrusively without a proper invitation. Engaging in a crusade to roll back our rights. It’s an act of terror and it’s frightening. Do not be alarmed or afraid of him, but be compelled to action. Know that your rights to transform to better identify as the gender you are cannot be taken away. Our rights are endowed upon us by the creator and by our commander in chief. “Certain rights can never be granted to the government but must be kept in the hands of the people.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Our rights to change or alter our form, appearance or nature must be kept safe or defended from danger or loss. To take away our rights is not equitable or fair. It amounts to a violation of the principles of American justice. Aren’t transgender people Americans as well? We deserve to be treated fairly in conformity with the rules or laws of nature and government without fraud or deception. In the face of these relentless attacks that terrorize our community, we must not crumble. We must make a strenuous and labored effort to rewrite the narrative or plan Donald Trump has laid out. It’s our job to push for reforms and respect. To bring, lead or force abandonment of this evil course of life, conduct, and to make Donald Trump and other lawmakers adopt a new way of thinking.
